Ben & Victoria’s Story

10 Jun, 2020

Do you know what it’s like to have your bank account at zero?

“We’ve got nothing to our names for the rest of the fortnight. I’m freaking out — we’ve got no money, no food.” Ben & Victoria run a busy household — both working and caring for four little ones.

That was until his autoimmune disease meant that Ben was quickly in mandatory isolation when COVID-19 hit — unable to work or even interact with his children. This meant a reduced income and the uncertainty of how to feed the family.

But their story doesn’t end in despair.

“We’re believing God will keep us well, he always has.”

Ben & Victoria have access to the transformational power of Jesus.

As CAP clients, they have a CAP Debt Coach from their local church who is only a text or call away as someone to pray with.

This nourishes them spiritually, but no Aussie family should not know how they’re going to feed their family.

“If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?” [James 2:16]

You can really show Aussie families that you’re “with them” by helping provide a practical solution to their financial hardship. Give today to this urgent appeal to make sure that when the government stimulus is over, the Church is still saying “we’re with you” for the long haul.

Ben & Victoria called CAP and got access to savings they’ve put aside for occasions just like this.

The kids are back at school. Ben can now work from home.

Their journey towards freedom from debt continues.
