A letter from Alisha: How we’re visiting clients during COVID-19

1 May, 2020

A new mini-series of ‘behind-the-scenes’ from CAP head office staff

My name is Alisha and I look after the network of CAP Debt Coaches across the nation as they work to serve and include the vulnerable in their communities.

There’s no denying COVID-19 has made their job more difficult. Nothing compares to face-to-face when it comes to building relationships with people. The good news is, with a little perseverance and ingenuity, these volunteers are still able to meet with people over the phone or through an online platform, and I know our clients appreciate it.

There are many stories coming through that encourage me that it’s still possible to transform lives despite the challenges. One story I love in particular is of a client in Melbourne, who, after having his first visit online, said: “I know you’re going to offer to pray for me, and I’ve kind of been hanging out for it.” The client was offered not only prayer, but a food hamper from the church, which was delivered to his door. He was so blessed by their love and kindness.

Recently, I encouraged our CAP Debt Coaches with Romans 12:12 from the great passage of love in action, “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” Please join me in praying this over them as they continue to persevere in doing God’s work.

Thank you so much for your support and for the part that you have in impacting lives across this nation.

With a heart of gratitude,

Alisha Evans
Head of Network Operations

Prayer points:

  • Pray that CAP Debt Coaches would find deep joy in the hope they have in Him, and that out of this joy they would find strength to persevere through the unique challenges this season brings.
  • Pray that clients would recognise this hope within our debt coach volunteers and be open to hearing how they can find this eternal hope for themselves.
  • Pray that CAP Debt Coaches would be recognised as people of patience and peace in this season of turmoil and unknown.
  • Pray that our network would be encouraged in their faithfulness as they bring their needs and praise to God.

Your prayers are so important in this difficult season. You can join the network of prayer across the nation by signing up to CAP Prayer Partners.
